Right before Christmas and the new year holiday, I traveled to Thailand to attend a conference with my professor. I had originally thought I would spend my new year there but I might be too old for that kind of stuff hahaha. So here, I just wanted to share my exciting experience at the IEEE conference with my new friends. It was truly a good opportunity and I feel so grateful to have been a part of this event.
First of all, I did not only travel for the conference but also had some meetings with my online colleagues, who I have already worked with for almost three years without seeing each other in person. So I thought this would be cool to have a cup of coffee and discuss some real talks. At the conference opening ceremony, my professor totally nailed it as the keynote speaker. He presented the current works and research plan of our lab. The crowd was definitely captivated by their insightful words and expertise in the field. And as for me, I got to present my own work and received great feedback from other attendees.
But the real highlight of the trip for me was getting to meet new colleagues and researchers from all over the world. We had some amazing meetings and discussions about potential collaborations. It’s just so cool to think about all the possibilities for future work and how these connections will shape my journey in this field. We had two big meetings and huge agreements in this short time visiting Thailand. We made a small research collaboration on robotics and vision implementation for the agriculture industry with one of the top universities in Bangkok. We will design a model to predict and learn about the agricultural product before they distribute to the market. We truly believe that this collaboration will help the agriculture industry grow and bring new technology into people’s daily lives.
As a student, being able to learn from and connect with numerous professors from around the world was truly invaluable. I’m so thankful for the experience and I hope to have the chance to attend another conference like this in the near future.
